Driving through the rolling hills of Barton Creek, you might never guess you were a mere 15 minutes from lively downtown Austin. South of Bee Caves Road and west of Capital of Texas Hwy, the neighborhoods of Barton Creek offer a quiet sanctuary with elegant, tasteful architecture surrounded by natural beauty. And this chic community boasts some of Austin’s most sought after property, from massive, multi-acre lots to zero-lot executive-style condominiums- all nestled within the hills surrounding Barton Creek.

Premium shopping is located nearby at Barton Creek Square Mall and the Hill Country Galleria, a charming outdoor mall. Anchored by the outstanding Omni Barton Creek Country Club Resort and Spa, the community has easy access to all the amenities of luxurious, resort-style living. Rated Texas’ #1 Golf Resort, Barton Creek is located on 4,000 acres of protected nature preserve. The resort features four top-rated golf courses designed by Austin native Ben Crenshaw, Tom Fazio and Arnold Palmer; Three Springs Spa, which offers a full range of premier wellness therapies; eleven tournament caliber tennis courts; and state-of-the-art fitness facilities with indoor and outdoor pools.

The Estates of Barton Creek

At the center of the community, The Estates is also the original of the neighborhoods around Barton Creek. The just over 200 homes are mostly large-scale structures with a range of different architectural styles on large, level lots. This subdivision does not include membership with the country club.

Wimberly Lane

A family-friendly community, Wimberly Lane is located just down the road from two private schools, St. Michael’s Catholic Academy (9-12) and St. Gabriel’s Catholic School (PreK-8). These homes are located on a gorgeous stretch of greenbelt, overlooking Barton Creek. Wimberly Lane is a gated community, with homes starting in the 700’s. Residents have access to a social membership at the country club.

The Woods I, II, III

The Woods are comprised of three gated sections of custom homes, built mostly in the 1990’s, and these neighborhoods have something for everyone. The first of the three communities, Woods I, features well developed trees and landscapes on .4 to 1 acre lots along the Fazio Foothills golf course. The Woods II has the most palatial homes of the three, and is surrounded by both Fazio golf courses. Its residences are some of Austin’s finest, and are seated on expansive lots of 1 or more acres. The Woods III has more family-friendly, executive-style homes, similar to Wimberly Lane with more modern building styles.

The Fairways

Location, location, location! The Fairways’ zero-lot, elegant, lock-and-leave condos and townhomes are within walking distance to the clubhouse and the Fazio Foothills golf course. This is a small, gated community of semi-custom and custom, craftsman-inspired condominiums that include a social membership to the country club. One interesting feature is that residents can drive their personal carts right from their homes onto the course- other members must use the golf carts that belong to the club. Mostly one-story homes, The Fairways is popular with retirees.

The Ridge

The Ridge is one of Barton Creek’s original neighborhoods and features established estates with mature trees. These homes back to the Fazio Foothills golf course- all have direct driving-range access- and include a social membership. Architecture styles vary, from stucco to limestone exteriors, but the terra-cotta roofing style connects the homes and distinguishes this neighborhood from others in the Barton Creek community. The Ridge’s home sell from $850K and up.

Amarra Drive

One of Barton Creek’s newest gems, Amarra Drive has homes that are either brand new or under construction. Located along Fazio Canyons golf course, these lots range course-side, along the 9th fairway and down to the Nature Conservancy of Texas. This sub-division also includes a small section of patio homes by Doyle Wilson called The Canyons.

Verano Drive

Verano is Barton Creek’s hot new community which features truly unique custom homes. From Hill Country Contemporary to your dream-vision-home, this neighborhood has a very different feel from the more traditional Tuscan-Hill Country style that is prevalent in much of the Barton Creek area. With less than 80 lots, these exclusive homes are on .66 to 2 acre, estate-sized lots, and sell from $1-2.5 million.

Governor’s Hill

Located atop a high ridge, Governor’s Hill has lovely zero-lot patio homes with impressive views of the surrounding hill country. These gorgeous, open-plan homes sell from $600-$900K.

Watersmark

Located along the Fazio Foothills golf course, Watersmark boasts a series of unique lots where the natural setting has been preserved, inspiring the architecture and landscaping. The neighborhood’s contemporary architecture and singular lots were featured in Western Interiors Magazine.

Escala Drive and Mirador Drive

These are two small communities of private, elite estates- with Escala Drive comprised of 54 sites, and Mirador drive only 34 sites. Situated on a hilltop ridge above Fazio Canyons Course, these massive estates feature lots from three to eleven acres, with sprawling floorplans (one Escala Drive home has 28,000 square feet).   The majestic homes of Escala and Mirador are surrounded by impeccable grounds with lush gardens and luxuriant pools. Custom features include libraries, wine rooms, casitas and motor courts. These estates range from $600,000 (for lots) to over $5 million, and include a social membership in the country club.

Calera Drive

A common feature of these regal homes on Calera Drive along Fazio Canyons golf course are luxurious outdoor spaces designed for entertaining and enjoying the natural beauty of the neighborhood. There are 53 home sites on acre lots with either golf course or hill country views.

Located adjacent to Calera Drive is Calera Court, a fantastic community of Mediterranean-style condominiums with private courtyards. Click here to view our video that shows you the sense of fantasy these grandiose homes inspire. Ownership in this community includes membership to the country club.

North Rim

The North Rim is a small, exclusive community in Barton Creek on the north side along a lush bend of the creek itself. A gated community of mostly European-style homes, these exquisite estates feature beautiful stone work and tiled roofs on spacious lots.

The Foothills

Overlooking  the Crenshaw Cliffside golf course on one side and Lost Creek Country Club on the other, The Foothills is another one of the original Barton Creek communities comprised of well-established, opulent homes on one to three acre lots. These are grand 4,000-6,000 square foot homes ranging up to $2 million.

The neighborhoods of Barton Creek offer luxury living to suit any distinguishing taste.  A secluded Hill Country estate with resort amenities and easy access to Austin’s vibrant urban life- who could ask for more?
